College Libraries Community Colleges Library Acquisition Library Equipment Library Instruction Library Personnel Library Policy Library Role Library Services Policy Formation Two Year Colleges In support of the stated goals and objectives of Lane Community College (LCC) in Oregon, the college library is developing a unified program of library and media resources and services. The purpose of the program is to enhance instruction and learning in a manner consistent with the philosophy and curriculum of the college. The goals of the library are to provide organized collections of print and nonprint resources which will meet institutional and instructional requirements as well as the needs of individual students; to create an environment in which resources are readily accessible, not only through the provision of appropriate facilities, furnishings, equipment, and supplies, but particularly through adequate staffing; and to facilitate learning and community services. The library is guided by the principles of the Library Bill of Rights which stands in opposition to censorship and supports access to information. In addition to presenting the mission and philosophy of LCC, the library's unifying principles, its statement of purpose and goals, and the Library Bill of Rights, this booklet presents the policies of the library with respect to: (1) the art gallery; (2) cataloging; (3) circulation and registration; (4) code of ethics; (5) collection development; (6) confidentiality and privacy; (7) copyright; (8) electronic database searching; (9) intellectual freedom; (10) library environment; (11) meetings; (12) periodicals; (13) personnel; (14) reference; (15) relationships with other libraries; (16) safety; and (17) teaching and instruction.
