contents ARL Preservation Statistics, 1988-1993: A Compilation of Statistics from the Members of the Association of Research Libraries. Reed-Scott, Jutta, Comp. Daval, Nicola, Comp. Academic Libraries Foreign Countries Higher Education Library Associations Library Expenditures Library Personnel Library Statistics Library Surveys Microfilm Preservation Questionnaires Research Libraries This document consists of a complete run of "ARL Preservation Statistics" from its inception in 1988 through 1993, a total of 5 issues: 1988-89, 1989-90, 1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93. The annual "ARL Preservation Statistics" questionnaire is designed to yield statistical information on the current level of preservation efforts in research libraries and on the key organizational, functional, and fiscal components that characterize preservation programs. The report is generally divided into three parts. In the first section, summary data tables display the aggregated statistics describing the current level of preservation efforts in ARL libraries. The four usual tables are: personnel; expenditures; preservation treatment; and preservation microfilming. The second section presents an analysis of the core data for all reporting ARL libraries. The key organizational, functional, and fiscal components that characterize preservation programs in ARL libraries and that distinguish between program levels are analyzed. The third section is an analysis of core data for established preservation programs. A copy of the annual questionnaire and footnotes to the ARL preservation statistics generally conclude the report.
