The looseleaf notebook format allows librarians or teachers to add material in connection with different topics. This volume is devoted to the middle school grades 6 through 8, a time when library information skills can be taught through entertaining activities. The 57 lesson plans have been developed by librarians from all over the country. While the assumption is made that the librarian has access to electronic and print information tools, many library skills can be introduced and taught even when resources are limited. Sections of the guide focus on: (1) an overview of teaching information skills; (2) exploring the library; (3) using different types of resources; (4) research strategies; (5) using technology; (6) connecting with the curriculum; (7) reading motivation; and (8) a list of 60 professional resources.
