Case Studies Developing Nations Foreign Countries Free Enterprise System Information Industry Information Management Information Policy Information Science Education Information Scientists Strategic Planning At the workshop, better management through strategic planning of information and consultancy was discussed as one way in which developing and Eastern European countries could tackle the complex information problems they are facing during the transition to a market economy. The sixteen papers in this volume are grouped into three basic categories: those dealing with an overview of strategic information planning (SIP)-information resource management (IRM) concept, or some important aspect of it in applied business or other organizational setting; those dealing with case studies in a national, institutional, or private enterprise setting; and those dealing with the education, training, and learning aspects of transferring SIP-IRM knowledge to others in academic or on-the-job settings.
