The guide includes information on President Hoover's life and career, as well as classroom activities for students. The suggested pre- and post-visit activities are to reinforce the ideas presented at the site and in the exhibits, but may be used in conjunction with a social studies unit. The reading list contains books of interest for further study. Themes are developed by examining the first 11 years of Hoover's life for the personal, intellectual, and economic values gained from his cultural community, as well as examining Hoover's adult achievements and individual character.
