APLS began a major building renovation, rearranged the Blind and Physically Handicapped Division for better access, and completed the second phase in installing compact shelving in the warehouse. In the area of training, workshops were conducted on reference, interlibrary loan, copyright, censorship, and the Internet. Circulation and reference statistics are provided. "Al's Wacky Summer Vacation," the 1994 summer reading program, attracted 45,290 children. APLS funding was distributed as follows: 49% state aid to libraries; 30% state-agency operations; 14% federal grants; and 7% federal-agency operations.
