The booklet has three sections, one for activities for infants and preschoolers, the second for children through grade 2, and the third for older children. These activities are meant to be used in addition to reading with children every day. According to the booklet, the main goal of the reading partners in using these activities is to develop a great enthusiasm in the reader for reading and writing. A 63-item Reading Is Fundamental reading list (arranged by grade level), a 24-item American Library Association reading list, and a 9-item list of organizations and federal sources of assistance are attached.
