contents A Computerized Cataloging System for an Outdoor Program Library or Resource Center. Watters, Ron Bibliographic Databases Cataloging Computer Software Library Catalogs Resource Centers The Outdoor Resource Library Cataloging System is a computer software program designed primarily for outdoor programs with small to medium-sized resource centers. The software is free to nonprofit organizations and is available from the Idaho State University Outdoor Program. The software is used to construct a database of library materials, which may be searched by author, title, call number, subject area, or key word. The software program is built upon the Dbase IV language, which allows flexibility and the ability to customize the database. This paper describes several simple call numbering systems; gives instructions for starting the program; summarizes the functions on the main menu; and explains how to add a book to the new book list, make subject cards for a card catalog, transfer the new book list to the master list, edit the master list, find books through the subject list, search the master list, work with the list of subject categories, and make changes or add new features to the program. Includes illustrations and software ordering information. (SV)
