This edition offers instructions for locating interactive ARL statistics on the World Wide Web, a 44-item bibliography, summary data tables on collections, expenditures, and personnel and public services, an analysis of selected variables, and Ph.D., faculty, and enrollment statistics. A collection of rank order tables offers statistical information on: volumes in library; volumes added (gross); current serials (totals); microform units; government documents; materials expenditures; salaries and wages expenditures; other operating expenditures; total library expenditures; monographs purchased (volumes); expenditures for monographs; serials purchased (subscriptions); expenditures for serials; total items loaned; total items borrowed; professional staff full-time equivalent (FTE); support staff (FTE); and total staff (FTE). A copy of the ARL statistics questionnaire is provided along with footnotes to the statistics and a list of ARL members. A complete list of the ARL member libraries is appended. (AEF)
