The report sets goals for technology integration with a 4-year plan, assesses its cost, and proposes funding and implementation strategies for reaching those goals. The report provides four recommendations: (1) telecommunications infrastructure, hardware, and learning resources--equip every California classroom and school library with the technology resources needed to create a learning environment that will improve student achievement; (2) student content and performance standards--incorporate technology into student content and performance standards recommended by the state for adoption at the district level; (3) teacher content and performance standards--integrate technology into the content and performance standards that will be used to set policies for preparing, hiring, evaluating, and promoting teachers; and (4) technical support--provide expertise and resources needed to support the effective use of technology by students, teachers, parents, and the broader community.
