It is the first project of the Organization of International and Area Studies Librarians in Ohio (OIALO) organized in July 1996. This directory identifies 35 individuals with experience in collection development, reference service, and cataloging for international and area studies. It also identifies librarians with specialized or scholarly expertise in international areas and foreign languages, and foreign language ability. Each entry includes: name, title, institution, address, phone, fax, e-mail address, URL (uniform resource locator) or World Wide Web address, library responsibilities, specialized expertise, and education and degrees. The purpose of this directory is to: (1) aid librarians, teachers, students, researchers, university administrators, state officials, and the general public in identifying foreign area and language specialists in academic and research libraries throughout Ohio; (2) allow librarians in similar areas of international studies to identify and communicate with each other and to organize among themselves; and (3) support cooperative efforts among international and area studies librarians in Ohio.
