The book contains activity pages for 101 children's literature selections, aimed at children in grades K-6. The activity page for each book contains: bibliographic information (title, author, and publisher); a brief summary of the book; discussion questions that parents and children can share after or while reading the story; activities that parents and children can do together, appropriate to a wide range of abilities and interest of children; and a list of related titles for children and parents to enjoy together, including books on the same theme and books written by the same author. Suggestions for using the activity pages and suggestions for promoting literature bonds between parents and children are provided. An introductory letter is supplied for librarians to photocopy and distribute to parents. Activity pages and booklists may be duplicated and distributed. Appendices consist of supplemental booklists for parents which are arranged by grade and include more than 95 titles per list: preschool-kindergarten, grades 1-2, grades 3-4, and grades 5-6. Selection criteria for titles included in this book are also discussed. (SWC)
