The need for thoughtful and organized strategic planning is an important cornerstone for the success of organizations of all sizes. Part of a project by the Interlibrary Cooperation and Networking Section of the Association for Cooperative and Specialized Library Agencies within the American Library Association, this book provides some of the needed definition, knowledge, and experience base to library cooperatives embarking on a strategic planning process. It draws on the existing experience base as it presents a range of sample planning documents drawn from the plans of 58 library cooperatives, networks, and systems. The book includes the following chapters: (1) Contents Pages; (2) Planning Process; (3) Values and Philosophy; (4) Visions; (5) Missions; (6) Environmental Analysis; (7) Goals, Objectives and Strategies; (8) Evaluation; and (9) Format, Design and Marketing (with sample graphics and web pages). Includes a reference list of the plans submitted, with address information for additional contact with the participating organizations. (SWC) |
