Technology is the enabler that offers basic, consistent, easily accessible information to all different types of learning communities. Through technology, CDE can gather, store, and analyze data, enabling the department to offer information with quality and integrity. To establish a baseline for the current status of technology integration and to help chart the future, CDE surveyed all schools, districts, BOCES, public libraries, and regional library service systems. This report provides information on: fiscal year 1996-97 accomplishments; information systems plans for fiscal years 1997-98 and 1998-99; technical architecture of the state network; hardware and software inventories; staff requirements; brief summary of base budget projects--Automated Information Systems, Automated Data Exchange, Enterprise Network, and Access Colorado Library and Information Network; cost analysis worksheets; project details; and Schedule 2D Decision Items.
