The project involved the Laubach tutoring method, and the "Ready to Read!" method, which uses newspapers to teach adults to read. Tutoring was provided in one-on-one and small group settings. The major goal for the project was met by completing the renovations to a section of the library's basement and establishing a new Community Learning Center. Two literacy classes using the "Ready to Read!" method were begun. The library also recruited and hired a Library Literacy Coordinator. The project allowed the library to further commit both facility and staff to the local literacy cause.
