Long, Sandy Access to Information Family Literacy Federal Programs Grants Information Dissemination Library Collection Development Library Collections Library Services Literacy Literacy Education Public Libraries Volunteer Training The Lebanon County Family Literacy Program, a project of the Lebanon Community Library (Pennsylvania), targeted intergenerational/families and focused on coalition building, public awareness, training, and collection development. The Lebanon Community Library serves as: a centralized location for storing and disseminating materials and handouts on Family Literacy that the library purchased, developed, and otherwise accumulated; a provider of free meeting room space for on-site workshops; a point of delivery for materials ordered; an administrator of funds through the county controller; a well-known, easily reachable location for the library's services, information, and referral; and a provider of workshops and training sessions. The grant enabled the library to expand and enhance its existing literacy program, making the program more visible and more reachable. The literacy program has been able to educate many more families, acquire and distribute more materials, train more agency personnel, and give away more children's books than was previously possible. Includes invoices for books purchased, program brochures and other materials (some also in Spanish), family literacy bibliography and list of videotapes, promotional materials, and childrens' reading logs.
