Kunnath, Maria Lorna Eaglin, Ronald Computer Assisted Instruction Computer Mediated Communication Distance Education Educational Resources Engineering Higher Education Nontraditional Education Undergraduate Study Universities Distance education reverses the traditional way of providing education to the learning community. Instead of students coming to the university to get that needed education, the university comes to the student. This research/survey of undergraduate engineering distance learning universities was conducted utilizing traditional and virtual sources of information. Various university Web sites were visited. Where information was scarce and/or needed verification, library resources were consulted. The study provided an overview of how distance education is being practiced in universities worldwide, with particular attention to universities in North America. Technologies for access and interactivity, quality of learning, and accreditation are discussed. A table lists collaborative agencies and member universities offering engineering distance learning, worldwide distance learning universities in engineering, and undergraduate distance learning universities in the United States.
