contents Education in South Asia: A Select Annotated Bibliography. Garland Reference Library of Social Science, Volume 390. Reference Books in International Education, Volume 3. Altbach, Philip G. Saldanha, Denzil Weiler, Jeanne Annotated Bibliographies Asian Studies Comparative Education Developing Nations Educational Philosophy Educational Planning Educational Policy Foreign Countries Global Education Higher Education Multicultural Education Non Western Civilization This bibliography comprises 1,419 items arranged in 35 chapters. About 40 percent of the listings include annotations. The bibliography includes education materials in English mainly for the period from 1960 to 1985. In a few instances, important items published earlier are listed. The volume covers the major South Asian nations of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The list primarily covers books, journal articles, and published reports of major governmental or international agencies. The volume reflects more complete coverage of India than of the other South Asian countries. The bibliography provides a guide to the literature on South Asia but is not to be considered comprehensive because of the limitation of English-language materials and exclusion of articles less than 10 pages in length.
