In general, the manual is aimed at helping student employees: develop a philosophy of service and promote a friendly service-oriented attitude; fulfill all designed tasks; become aware of the nature of the library patron's needs; make clear the student employee's limitations in assisting patrons; ensure that library patrons receive adequate assistance; and increase the student employee's own knowledge about the library and the resources available in the support of their own library needs.
