contents Factors Enhancing the Teaching of Information Literacy to Adirondack Community College Faculty. Miller, Joyce Access to Information College Faculty Community Colleges Educational Resources Information Literacy Information Utilization Librarian Teacher Cooperation Library Technical Processes Research Skills Teacher Attitudes Teacher Education Two Year Colleges This study examines the status of information literacy skills among the faculty of Adirondack Community College (ACC) in New York, and describes factors that enhance these skills. Three primary questions posed by the study are: (1) what information literacy skills do faculty have now?; (2) what factors strengthen the teaching of information literacy, and what would motivate faculty to learn more?; and (3) how can this case study be used to teach information skills more effectively to faculty and staff? It was found that faculty access information by different means than students, in that they bypass traditional library tools and use their professional organizations and colleagues as major sources of information. Using literature and information from librarians, the study summarizes ACC faculty as being typical of college faculty overall in their lack of awareness of information skills. The paper is divided into 4 chapters, including an introduction, a review of the literature, results of the study, and a discussion of the results. Appended are cover letters and survey instruments, aggregate raw survey results, and supporting documentation. (Contains 27 references.) (AS)
