  • Sport Facility Planning and Management. Sport Management Library. Farmer, Peter J. Mulrooney, Aaron L. Ammon, Rob, Jr. Athletics Building Operation Case Method (Teaching Technique) Facilities Management Facility Guidelines Facility Planning Higher Education Risk Management Textbooks Students of sports facilities management will need to acquire a wide variety of managerial skills and knowledge in order to be adequately prepared to plan and manage these facilities. This textbook offers students a mix of practical examples and recognized theory to help them in the planning, constructing, promoting, and managing of sports facilities. It examines topics ranging from the early history of sport facilities through to the managing of an event within a modern sport facility. The textbook offers case studies involving a wide variety of facilities, from fitness centers to race tracks to major stadiums. Students are then asked to critically analyze the cases, correcting any mistakes that may have been made, and to produce a new facility plan and management scheme that improves upon the plans presented in the case studies. Appendices provide information on the Americans with Disabilities Act; and advice on planning and developing a multipurpose sport facility, or designing and constructing a physical education facility or swimming pool. Several case studies conclude the book. (GR)
