Conferences Information Literacy Information Technology Libraries Meetings National Organizations Professional Associations This report of the May, 1999 meeting of the National Forum on Information Literacy highlights the following topics: (1) activities of FOCAS (Forum on Communications and Society), a CEO-level body within the Communications and Society Program of the Aspen Institute; (2) the National Research Council Report, "Being Fluent with Information Technology"; (3) an information literacy presentation to NCLIS (National Commission on Libraries & Information Science); (4) reports of member organizations, including the International Association of School Librarians, U.S. Department of Education, Health Information Technology Institute, Association of Teacher Educators, National Education Association, Special Libraries Association, Association of College & Research Libraries, National Council on Library and Information Science, National Council of Teachers of English, Alliance for Public Technology, National Council for the Social Studies, National School Boards Association, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Middle States Commission, and the College Board; (5) the possibility of an international conference on information literacy; (6) National Forum on Information Literacy correspondence with NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education); (7) the recent Institute of Museum & Library Services conference on the 21st-century learner; and (8) other business/announcements.
