The changing customer base and the changing environments of higher education and libraries are described. Four strategies for extending the role of the Library in active support of teaching and learning at the University of Queensland are then described. These include: thoughtful and innovative design, maintenance and use of effective virtual and physical facilities; development of Web-based interactive information skills programs; creation of the University of Queensland Cybrary; and building positive educational experiences for high school students through the University of Queensland Library Cyberschool.
