This volume is organized into six sections. Part 1, "Overview," provides an overall context for examination of literacy and learning in an information age. Part 2, "Context of Learning," features three chapters that give essential background information on learning. "Context of Collaborative Planning and Teaching," Part 3, shares principles that underlie effective collaboration, offers teaching strategies for a standards-based approach to learning through the library media center, includes an approach for creating meaningful assignments, and gives an overview of assessment techniques. Part 4, "Context of Library Media Programs," brings the learning focus to the library media program itself, offering insights into collection development in an age of constructivist learning and strategies for designing library media programs based on learning. In Part 5, "Connecting to the Community," strategies are laid out for building a community of learning.
