Academic Libraries Comparative Analysis Higher Education Internet Library Automation Library Development Library Expenditures Library Funding Library Networks Library Services Library Statistics Outreach Programs Public Libraries State Aid State Libraries Tables (Data) This statistical report on Michigan's libraries presents data provided by academic libraries, public libraries, public library cooperatives, and those public libraries that that serve as regional or subregional outlets to provide services for blind and physically handicapped patrons. For academic libraries, data are compiled from the 1998 academic library survey distributed by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. All postsecondary libraries in the state were invited to participate; the 91 libraries that responded are included in this report. Following the national and regional comparative data, statewide summaries are provided. Data for academic libraries include student enrollment, outlets, staff, library services, staff expenditures, information resources expenditures, other operating expenditures, collections added, collections held, and electronic services. For public libraries, the reporting year is the most recent fiscal year completed by each library prior to October 1, 1998. Public library data include: class size; salary and benefit information; non-resident fees and MichiCard membership; technology; outlets, hours, and staff; operating income; operating expenditures; capital income and expenditures; square footage; library collections; and library services. Contains a copy of the Public Library Annual Report form and instructions. (MES) |
