  • Keep Talking That Book! Booktalks To Promote Reading. Volume II. Professional Growth Series. Littlejohn, Carol Childrens Libraries Childrens Literature Library Services Reading Interests Reading Materials Reading Motivation This volume, a companion to "Talk That Book: Booktalks To Promote Reading," presents 263 new booktalks on classics and best sellers that serve a wide range of interests for all ages and reading interests. Usually, booktalking is an oral presentation of 10 or 20 booktalks lasting about 30 minutes; however, this book can also act as a librarian's guide when children ask them for a recommendation. As in the previous volume, these booktalks are arranged by the author's last name, followed by reading level, genre, and subjects. Books are categorized by reading levels, according to their vocabulary and content. Unlike the previous volume, this book does not separate the booktalks into separate chapters according to reading level. More nonfiction, biography, and poetry books were selected for this volume to supplement the first book. An introductory section discusses the purpose of booktalks, booktalking concepts, and why booktalks work. Information is also provided on book awards. Includes author, title, age-level, genre, and subject indexes. (AEF)
