contents Handbook for Alaska K-12 School Libraries, 2000. Revised. Petersen, Lois A. Elementary Secondary Education Information Services Library Administration Library Services Reference Materials Reference Services School Libraries This manual is intended to help library staff maximize their work by providing information and references to many of the "frequently asked questions." There are two parts to the manual. The "Overview" is an introduction to school librarianship in Alaska that discusses putting school libraries in perspective; managing the school library; connecting people and information; and becoming an information leader. An index separates the Overview from the "Nitty Gritty" section. This section takes on specific topics and presents them alphabetically, providing a brief explanation of the subject with practical "how to" suggestions for implementing ideas or following up with further study. Topics in the "Nitty Gritty" section are designed to be copied for use in the library. (AEF)
