Part 1, "The Editor's Perspective," addresses the following topics: the purpose of scholarly writing; stylistic trends in scholarly articles, including titles and abstracts, as well as discussion and presentation; editors and referees; criteria for assessment; and refereed articles and professional papers. Part 2, "The Publisher's Perspective," discusses the Literati Club (the MCB University Press network of authors, editors, and editorial board members), PeerNet (an electronic service that is an alternative to the traditional peer review process), and consortia workshops.
