Comparative Analysis Library Automation Library Collections Library Expenditures Library Networks Library Services Library Statistics Library Surveys Public Libraries State Libraries Tables (Data) The 2000 edition of the Michigan Library Statistical Report presents data provided by public libraries, library cooperatives and those public libraries that serve as regional or subregional outlets for providing services to blind and physically handicapped patrons. All legally established public libraries in Michigan were invited to respond. Data were collected as part of the State Aid Application. Library systems were asked to report data that include their main and branch libraries. A total of 385 public libraries provided data. Following the national and regional comparative data, statewide summaries are provided. Public library data are presented by class size, which is determined by population. Libraries are divided into six class sizes. For each class size, data include: Outlets, Hours and Staff; Operating Income and Expenditures; Capital Income and Expenditures and Square Footage; Library Collections; Library Services; Director Salary and Benefit Information; Other Employee Salary; Non-Resident Fees and MichiCard Membership; and Technology (Computers, Automation, Adaptive Services, and Internet). A Public Library Index is provided that identifies basic information for each library, including the class size under which the library data are reported. The Public Library Annual Report form and instructions are also included. (AEF)
