The book's six chapters are as follows: (1) "The Folk Tale Tradition"; (2) "Western Myths and Legends"; (3) "Mythical Creatures and Fantastic Beasts"; (4) "Trickster Folk Tales"; (5) "Tall Tales"; and (6) "The Heavens." Each chapter contains an annotated bibliography of available picture books and illustrated texts written for elementary age children. (SR)
