contents Cataloging Artist Files: One Library's Approach to Providing Integrated Access to Ephemeral Material. Starr, Daniel Access to Information Artists Bibliographic Records Cataloging Databases Indexing Internet Museums Online Catalogs Special Libraries This paper demonstrates how cataloging for a collection of over 40,000 files on individual artists, developed by the Museum of Modern Art Library (New York), is made available to researchers around the world by incorporating MARC records for each file in an online catalog that can be searched over the Internet. Examples are provided of the existing list of artist files from the 1980s, the artist file template, the display of cataloging information in an online catalog, a new record for an artist file that is keyed in, the artist file in a specialized archive, an artist file record used to track location and circulation, an artist file record used to record bibliographical information, an auction catalog record created using a template, and indexing created using a template.
