This booklet aims at providing guidance for school library media specialists in doing both. It offers brief comments about each of the following areas and provides some concrete tools for the evaluator's use when needed: Organization (leadership, participants, determining purpose, timeline); Data gathering (surveys, focus groups, counting stuff, evaluation rubrics); Data analysis (identifying strengths, identifying concerns, identifying recommendations); The written report; Using a consultant as an evaluator; Communicating the findings; and Follow-up. With this booklet, the following documents are provided: sample of a completed self-study; set of tools (surveys, rubrics, and miscellaneous checklists); and template for a self-study. Selected resources for library media program assessment tools are also included. (AEF) |
