Selected titles in the book include children's book award winners, fantasy, poetry, biography, fiction, and nonfiction--from popular classics such as "Johnny Appleseed" by Steven Kellogg, to newer titles such as "Rattlesnake Dance" by Jennifer Owings Dewey; photographs and biographies provide background information about authors and illustrators. Also discussed in the book are how to conduct meetings, notify parents, moderate discussions, acquire multiple copies of a book, work toward a book club collection, seek funds, implement registration procedures, and handle publicity. The book also includes a sample letter to parents and tips on soliciting donations, determining a suitable location for the meetings, accommodating all ages and interests, and corresponding with authors and illustrators.
