Chapter 1 defines what a partnership is and how a joint venture differs from a partnership. It also describes the benefits of partnering, the knowledge, attitude, and skills required, and how to develop, evaluate, and promote new partnerships. Chapter 2 addresses library partnerships with public agencies and provides four case studies that exemplify those types of library partnerships. Chapter 3 identifies library partnerships with foundations and nonprofits, supplies six case studies, and offers details on community foundations in California. Chapter 4 explores library partnerships with businesses and provides four case studies, three of them from libraries outside of California. Chapter 5 outlines information on library partnerships with the media and three case studies of successful library/media partnerships.
