Of 113 ARL university libraries, 63 responded to the survey. Results for each library are presented in the following data tables: (1) collections, including volumes in library, volumes added, monographs purchased, current serials purchased/not purchased, microform units, government documents, computer files, archives and manuscripts, cartographic materials, graphic materials, audio materials, and video and film; (2) expenditures, including monographs, current serials, other library materials, miscellaneous materials, total library materials, contract binding, salaries and wages for professional staff, salaries and wages for support staff, salaries and wages for student assistants, total salaries and wages, other operating expenditures, and total expenditures; and (3) personnel and public services, including professional staff, support staff, student assistants, total staff, library presentations to groups, participants in group presentations, reference transactions, initial circulation transactions, total circulation transactions, total items loaned, and total items borrowed. A copy of the ARL questionnaire and instructions, as well as footnotes to the statistics, are included. An appendix lists ARL member libraries. (MES)
