contents The Social Sciences: A Cross-Disciplinary Guide to Selected Sources. Third Edition. Library and Information Science Text Series. Herron, Nancy L., Ed. Annotated Bibliographies Humanities Information Sources Literature Nonprint Media Printed Materials Publications Reference Materials Social Science Research Social Sciences Like the two editions that precede it, this volume is designed as a working text to serve two groups of users. It is both an up-to-date guide to the literature prepared by practicing librarians for fast and easy access to some of the best resources in the social science literature, and it is a teaching textbook for students wanting a clear, straightforward approach to learning about the most used and the most important reference sources in the social sciences, both print and electronic. The sources listed in each of the 12 chapters were selected because of their value to the student/researcher. In this third edition, all chapters have been revised, the essays expanded, and the annotated lists of resources changed to better reflect currency. Part 1 is a general section composed of reference sources applicable across all disciplines. Part 2 contains the literature of disciplines firmly established by scholarly tradition among the social sciences. Part 3 contains the literature of disciplines defined as "emerging" from roots in the humanities or pure sciences into the social science disciplines. Part 4 includes the literature of the disciplines related to the social sciences or those with recognized social implications for the other disciplines covered in the first three parts. Includes Author, Title, and Subject indexes. (AEF)
