Its emphasis is on visual or physical disabilities that prevent reading or using standard printed materials. The selections, based on the holdings of the Reference Section, National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, were chosen for currency and authoritativeness. With the exception of a few classics in the field, most titles are in print and were published between 1998 and June 2002. Selected print materials include: general; library users with special needs (children, older adults, individuals with hearing impairments, individuals with learning disabilities, and individuals with visual impairments); disability awareness and training; academic libraries; Americans with Disabilities Act and universal access; adaptive technologies; digital talking books; and electronic books.
