Rafste, Elisabeth Tallaksen Elementary Secondary Education Information Literacy Information Seeking Information Skills Librarian Teacher Cooperation Library Instruction Research Skills School Libraries Skill Development Student Research The process from information to knowledge is discussed as part of the learning process students must go through to achieve a successful and effective outcome of the process. In a school situation models for the information-seeking process are too general, rational and linear to give indications for practice. Four didactic dilemmas are discussed in this paper to present more aspects of the process. The importance of professional instruction and guidance is stressed as is the cooperation of teachers and school librarians to make the students succeed in transforming information into knowledge in a meaningful way.
