In a school situation models for the information-seeking process are too general, rational and linear to give indications for practice. Four didactic dilemmas are discussed in this paper to present more aspects of the process. The importance of professional instruction and guidance is stressed as is the cooperation of teachers and school librarians to make the students succeed in transforming information into knowledge in a meaningful way.
