  • College of the Canyons Library Services Student Evaluation Survey, Spring 2001. Report. Dixon, P. Scott Gribbons, Barry C. Community Colleges Libraries Library Personnel Library Services Participant Satisfaction Program Evaluation Reference Services Student Attitudes Two Year Colleges User Satisfaction (Information) The College of the Canyons Library, with assistance from Institutional Development and Technology (IDT), conducted a survey of students to obtain their impressions regarding experiences with library staff, services, collections, and equipment. A representative sample of non-occupational courses was selected for an in-class survey. In addition, surveys were placed in the Student Services Center and the library lobby. IDT collected and analyzed the results: (1) 80% of respondents used the library services or collections, and only 8% felt the library did not have the resources they needed; (2) 60% used the open computer lab, with 79% rating it as good or excellent; (3) 52% used the reference desk, with 84% rating it as good or excellent; (4) 48% used the online catalog, with 71% rating it as good or excellent; and (5) less than 4% felt the library staff was not helpful. Respondents noted that there was some room for improvement, such as the need for more and faster computers and printers, more children's materials, later hours on Friday and Saturday, and a faster online catalog. Survey instrument appended, with detailed responses. (Author)
