Academic Libraries Electronic Libraries Foreign Countries Higher Education Library Associations Library Services Library Surveys Questionnaires Reference Services Research Libraries World Wide Web This SPEC (Systems and Procedures Exchange Center) Kit presents the results of a survey of Association of Research Libraries (ARL) member libraries designed to gather data on chat reference service. A total of 66 of 124 ARL member libraries responded to the survey. A copy of the questionnaire with tabulated results is presented. Representative documents include: (1) chat reference on the Web home pages from 12 libraries; (2) policies and guidelines from 11 libraries; (3) training documents from ten libraries; (4) evaluation forms from six libraries; and (5) information on collaborative projects from three libraries. A list of selected resources includes 28 books and articles and 5 Web site addresses. (MES)
