Academic Standards Accreditation (Institutions) Ancillary School Services Community Colleges Excellence in Education Institutional Evaluation Institutional Mission Leadership Program Effectiveness Standards Two Year Colleges This document details the accreditation standards set forth by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The four standards are as follows: (1) Institutional Mission and Effectiveness. Each institution has a statement of mission that defines the institution's broad educational purposes, its intended student population, and its commitment to achieving student learning. The institution demonstrates a strong commitment to the mission and engages in an ongoing cycle of evaluation of the mission; (2) Student Learning Programs and Services. The institution offers high-quality instructional programs, in recognized and emerging fields, which culminate in positive student outcomes. The institution also offers student support services, and library and learning support services; (3) Resources. The institution employs qualified personnel to support student learning programs and services. Personnel are treated equitably, are evaluated regularly, and are provided opportunities for professional development. The institution also makes positive efforts to encourage diversity; and (4) Leadership and Governance. The institution recognizes and utilizes the contributions of leadership throughout the organization for continuous improvement of the institution. Governance roles are designed to facilitate decisions that support student learning programs and services and improve institutional effectiveness. (NB) |
