ARL reports on current issues of interest to academic and research library administrators, staff, and users; higher education administrators and faculty; information technologists and those who depend on networked information; as well as anyone concerned with the future of scholarly communication or information policy developments. Each issue explores a broad range of education topics of particular importance to research institutions and academic librarians. This edition of ARL includes the following articles: (1) Expanding the Public Domain (Jame Boyle and William Neal Reynolds); (2) Cornell University Library and Press Collaborate on "Race, Ethnicity & Religion" Web Site (Kornelia Tancheva); (3) Permanence Levels and the Archives for NLM's[R], Permanent Web Documents (Margaret M. Byrnes); and (4) Seeking a Global Perspective on Scholarly Communication: Contributions from the UK (Karla Hahn). This issue also includes a section on ARL Activities.
