(2) Of those enrolled, how many are in public versus private preschools/childcare? (3) Do enrollment rates vary by ethnic groups, and if so, why? and (4) How do California enrollment rates compare to those of other states and the rest of the nation? It also examines the Census 2000 data for the state's largest counties using the following variables: (1) The number of children aged three to five who are enrolled in preschool/childcare; (2) The enrollment rates of children aged three to five who are enrolled in preschool/childcare; (3) The percent of children who are in private preschool/childcare; (4) The percent of children who live in a two-parent home; (5) The percent of children who live in a linguistically isolated home; and (6) The median family income. A Table of Key Indicators by County is appended. (Contains 8 footnotes and 30 figures.) |
