Withey, Lynne University Presses Administrators Publications Faculty Publishing Authors Scholarship Electronic Publishing Financial Support Presented herein are papers presented at a session entitled "Crises and Opportunities: The Future of Scholarly Publishing," from the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Annual Meeting, May 10, 2003. Four speakers approached this topic from different standpoints: as leaders of learned societies, as senior university officials, from the point of view of a university press, and from the digital frontier. Remarks were presented by Carlos J. Alonso, the Edwin B. and Leonore R. Williams Professor and Chair of the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Pennsylvania; Cathy Davidson, Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies at Duke University; John M. Unsworth, Dean of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; Lynne Withey, Director, University of California Press. The moderator was Marshall Cohen, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Law at the University of Southern California, and Vice Chair of the ACLS Board of Directors. (Contains 20 notes.)
