Statistical data from those reports are tabulated in this publication, with directory listings published in the companion volume, "California Library Directory." For this fiscal year, 389 libraries of all types submitted data to this program. One public library, Vernon, did not submit an annual report and appears with almost no data in the tables of this publication. It is estimated that there are at least 1,000 libraries in operation in California, exclusive of school libraries, so data in this publication is about 39% complete this year.
