Tharp Academic Libraries Mental Health Library Materials Librarians Resources Mentors Purpose: The purpose of examining United States academic library mental health resources is to identify mental health resources available to academic libraries by exploring publicly available mental health resources for academic libraries. Discussion of future directions for academic mental health resources and a standard approach for academic mental health resources serve as invaluable mental health resources for academic libraries. Methodology: Multidisciplinary literature is examined to determine the detriments of academic library mental resources and to develop an academic library mental health resources stakeholder centric model. Multidisciplinary literature review informs future directions for academic mental health resources and a standard approach for academic library mental health resources. Findings: United States academic libraries have a wide variety of resources and future directions to consider in the provision of academic library mental health resources. Academic libraries also should embrace lobbying as an academic library mental health resource. Originality/Value: The identification of academic library mental health resources in a stakeholder centric model is not current practice nor is the identification of selected multidisciplinary academic library mental health resources. Identifying future trends in academic mental health resources and the formulation of a standard approach for academic mental health resources are also not current practice.
