contents Revelations from the Literature: How Web-Scale Discovery Has Already Changed Us Richardson, Hillary A. H. Library Services Internet Online Searching Integrity Information Literacy Search Engines Electronic Libraries Journal Articles Electronic Publishing Library Research Educational Technology For nearly a decade now, librarians have discussed and deliberated ways, for the sake of convenience, to integrate internet-like searching into their own catalogs to mimic what academic library patrons have been using outside the library. Discovery tools and web-scale discovery services (WSDS) attempt to provide users with a similar one-stop shop version of a library catalog, allowing users to conduct single keyword searches over the virtual entirety of a library's accessible resources. Because web-scale discovery services are still evolving and are tightly related to other services, such as next-generation catalogs and federated searching, the vocabulary for these services is not fully established, nor is it entirely consistent within the field of library science. This change in vocabulary is discussed in this article.
