Postdoctoral scholars ("postdocs") make substantial contributions to academic research and are an important group toward which services can be marketed. They are also difficult to find on many campuses, with some studies referring to this population as the "invisible university." As a result, little research has been done to identify their needs and interests or to respond through library outreach. This study presents insights derived from interviews with postdoctoral scholars in the sciences at a research university. Though some findings pertain to the immediate campus environment, many are transferable to any library wishing to strengthen its research services. |
