- Community College Libraries and Librarians and Student Success: A North Carolina Study Lance, Keith Curry Community Colleges College Libraries Librarians Academic Achievement College Faculty Two Year College Students Library Personnel Library Materials Library Services Library Science Information Literacy Student Surveys Teacher Surveys In 2015, surveys of students, faculty, and librarians and other library staff elicited their perceptions of the contributions of community college libraries to student success, both directly and via librarian collaboration with faculty. The three surveyed groups agreed substantially that libraries and librarians contribute to student success, both by providing access to library resources and by providing librarian services. The services of librarians believed to contribute to student success were ones associated strongly with the practice of embedded librarianship with faculty and the teaching of information literacy to students. Recommendations for action by community college libraries and their professional development providers are also offered.
