The district is called the Slate Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) and consists of about 1,320 students who come from five sending towns. The school is currently undergoing several educationally innovative changes as directed by the Vermont Agency of Education. With the recent "National School Library Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries" released, the district was able to incorporate into the new changes. The timely release of the "National School Library Standards" in the fall of 2017 assisted the school librarians of SVUSD as they developed proficiency-based learning and grading standards.
